Softball Recap: Mission College Prep Sets Scoring Season-High Against Arroyo Grande

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mission College Prep). They were the clear victors by a 16-4 margin over the Arroyo Grande Eagles on Wednesday. That's more bragging rights for the Royals, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Dani Rivas made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off five hits. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.1 strikeouts per game. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-5.

In other batting news, Scarlett Ferrari was incredible, going 4-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Mikaylee Gordon was another key player, going 2-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Mission College Prep always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Arroyo Grande only posted an OBP of .250.

Mission College Prep's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 5-7. As for Arroyo Grande, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.

Mission College Prep will square off against Cabrillo at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Mission College Prep is facing Cabrillo at the right time seeing as Cabrillo is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Arroyo Grande, they will take on Lompoc at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Lompoc's pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so Arroyo Grande's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
