Volleyball Game Preview: Long Reach Lightning vs. Oakland Mills Scorpions

The Long Reach Lightning will head out to face off against the Oakland Mills Scorpions at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Oakland Mills took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Long Reach, who comes in off a win.

Long Reach had to skate by with only a one-set margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the three-set drubbing they dealt Mt. Hebron on Tuesday. The Lightning put the hurt on the Vikings with a sharp 3-0 win. The Lightning haven't had any issues with the Vikings recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

The final score came out to 25-20, 25-16, 25-21.

Meanwhile, Oakland Mills was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat. They lost 3-0 to Howard.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-8, 25-10, 25-7.

Oakland Mills' loss dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Long Reach, their win bumped their record up to 4-7.

Everything went Long Reach's way against Oakland Mills in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as Long Reach made off with a 3-0 victory. Will the Lightning repeat their success, or do the Scorpions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
