Basketball Game Preview: Ragsdale Tigers vs. Northwest Guilford Vikings

The Ragsdale Tigers will square off against the Northwest Guilford Vikings at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Ragsdale is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak.

Ragsdale is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against Southwest Guilford on Thursday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Ragsdale took a blow against Southwest Guilford, falling 78-50. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 581st, while the Cowboys are ranked 87th).

Dashawn Ervin put forth a good effort for the losing side as he went 7 for 13 on his way to 20 points. Those 20 points gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Josiah Beatty, who posted seven points and six rebounds.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Northwest Guilford). They took down Southeast Guilford 75-59 on Thursday. While the Vikings didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Northwest Guilford's victory bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Ragsdale, their loss dropped their record down to 1-13.

Ragsdale won a game that couldn't have been any closer in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, slipping by Northwest Guilford 53-52. Does Ragsdale have another victory up their sleeve, or will Northwest Guilford turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
