Preview: Alemany Warriors vs. Serra Cavaliers
Alemany is 1-7 against Serra since October of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Alemany Warriors will head out on the road to face off against the Serra Cavaliers at 7:00 p.m. Alemany is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
Last Friday, Alemany had to suffer through a rough 42-6 loss at the hands of Notre Dame (SO). While losing is never fun, Alemany can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 221st, while Notre Dame (SO) is ranked 49th).
Despite their loss, Alemany saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Nigel Epperson, who rushed for 80 yards and a touchdown, was perhaps the best of all.
Meanwhile, Serra's game on Friday was all tied up 21-21 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell 35-28 to Sierra Canyon. Serra's loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
Like Sierra Canyon, Serra lost despite seeing results from several players. Jimmy Butler led the charge by rushing for ten yards and a touchdown, while also throwing for 203 yards and a touchdown. Tre? Harrison got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Even if they lost, Serra's defensive line still kept up the pressure with 7.5 sacks. Sierra Canyon's QB won't forget Noa Keohuloa anytime soon given Keohuloa sacked him eight times.
The losses dropped Alemany to 1-8 and Serra to 6-3.
Things could have been worse for Alemany, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 28-12 loss to Serra in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Can Alemany avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
