Illiana Christian has been on the road for five straight, but on Monday they'll finally head home. They will be home for the holidays to greet the Boone Grove Wolves at 7:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Illiana Christian struggled with offensive rebounds on Wednesday (Munster had nine more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Illiana Christian's tough 65-42 defeat to Munster might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Illiana Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 260th, while Munster is ranked 86th).
Illiana Christian's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Cheyenne DeJong, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds, and Abbie Ritzema who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Ritzema scored a full 40.5% of Illiana Christian's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 50-22, which was the final score in Boone Grove's tilt against Tri-Township on Friday. Boone Grove was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 30-7.
