Softball Recap: Hickory Ridge Makes It Five in a Row on the Road

After losing to Legion Collegiate Academy the last time they met, Hickory Ridge decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Ragin' Bulls came out on top against the Lancers by a score of 6-1 on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Ragin' Bulls.

Embler Kristyn spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Elizabeth Baker, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Hickory Ridge pushed their record up to 10-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Legion Collegiate Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-7-1 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hickory Ridge will take on West Cabarrus at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Ragin' Bulls are facing the Wolverines at the right time seeing as the Wolverines are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Legion Collegiate Academy, they will face off against Lewisville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Lions' pitching crew has only allowed 1.7 runs per game this season, so the Lancers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
