Baseball Recap: Gideon Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Gideon had lost four games on the road, but after bumping their record up to 5-8 on Friday that streak is in the rearview. They skirted past the Holcomb Hornets 5-3. This was a revenge game for the Bulldogs: when they faced off against the Hornets back in April, they had to take a 13-4 defeat.

As for Holcomb, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-11. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss they have suffered since May 9, 2024.

For Holcomb's part, Bladyn Joiner was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave Joiner a new career-low in earned runs (zero). He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Bryce McNabb was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run. Erick Aguirre also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Looking ahead, Gideon will square off against Charleston at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Bulldogs will need to watch out since the Bluejays have now posted at least ten runs in their last three games. As for Holcomb, they will challenge Naylor at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
