Regis took a three-set defeat the last time they faced off against Chippewa Falls, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Ramblers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over the Cardinals on Tuesday. Winning may never get old, but the Ramblers sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Regis was actually outscored in aggregate across those three sets (57-49), but they still managed to win. The final score came out to 9-25, 25-22, 15-10.
Their offense was headlined by Olivia Morning and Lily Lewis, who picked up eight kills apiece. They got some help from Izzy Reichert and her 21 assists. Finally, Lewis was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high three blocks.
Chippewa Falls' loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Claire Hoepner, who had 12 digs and two assists. Another player making a difference was Brynn Von Haden, who had five aces and three assists.
Regis' victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Chippewa Falls, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.
Coincidentally, Regis and Chippewa Falls will both be playing Wausau West the next time they take the court. The Ramblers will head out to face the Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Cardinals will play them later in the day, at 7:00 p.m.
