Softball Game Preview: Russell County Lakers vs. Larue County Hawks

The Russell County Lakers will challenge the Larue County Hawks at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

On Monday, neither Russell County nor Marion County could gain the upper hand so the two teams had to settle for a 0-0 draw. The match marked the first time this season in which the Lakers were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, Larue County came tearing into Monday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Raiders get on the board and left with a 6-0 victory. Considering the Hawks have won 13 games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Not much got past Heidi Tipton, who gave up just a hit and racked up ten Ks to keep Hart County off the board. Tipton has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Molly Abbott was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two runs. Laura Austin was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Larue County's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 23-5. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. Russell County's draw makes their record 13-13-1 this season.
