Basketball Recap: Buckeye Local Comes Up Short

Buckeye Local was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were beaten by the Martins Ferry Purple Riders 66-20. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 805th, while the Purple Riders are ranked 298th).

Buckeye Local's loss dropped their record down to 1-15. As for Martins Ferry, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-8.

Buckeye Local will head out on the road to square off against Beaver Local at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Martins Ferry, they will square off against Bellaire at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Bellaire knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully Martins Ferry likes a good challenge.
