Preview: Howard Hawks vs. Tapestry Charter Titans
The Howard Hawks's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Tapestry Charter Titans at 5:30 p.m. on February 1st. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Tuesday, Howard narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the 46-44.
Howard found their leader in underclassman Keegan Roberts, who scored 23 points along with two blocks. It was the first time this season that Roberts posted two or more blocks. Another player making a difference was Zach Danzig, who scored nine points.
Meanwhile, Tapestry Charter came tearing into Tuesday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 34.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against Cottage by a score of 57-45.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Tapestry Charter to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kingston Willingham, who scored 11 points. Willie Poole III was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Howard is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. As for Tapestry Charter, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-4.
Thursday's game is shaping up to be a scrappy game: Howard have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 26.9 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Tapestry Charter, though, as they've been averaging only 8 rebounds per game. Given Howard's sizable advantage in that area, the Titans will need to find a way to close that gap.
Howard won a contest that couldn't have been any closer in their previous matchup back in January, slipping by the Titans 41-40. The rematch might be a little tougher for Howard since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
