Even though the South Pointe Griffins scored an imposing 85 points on Thursday, Sequoia Pathfinder Verrado Way still came out on top. Sequoia Pathfinder Verrado Way took their match against South Pointe 93-85. The win made it back-to-back wins for Sequoia Pathfinder Verrado Way.
Sequoia Pathfinder Verrado Way's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from TJ Clark, who scored 22 points along with 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Another player making a difference was Camren Houser, who scored 21 points along with 8 rebounds.
South Pointe's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Prince Sohn, who scored 31 points along with 3 steals. Sohn scored a full 36.5% of South Pointe's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Jamontae Fullerlove was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 22 points and 13 rebounds.
Even though they lost, South Pointe were working as a unit and finished the game with 29 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sequoia Pathfinder Verrado Way only racked up 20.
Sequoia Pathfinder Verrado Way's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for South Pointe, their loss dropped their record down to 2-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sequoia Pathfinder Verrado Way will challenge Heritage Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for South Pointe, they will head out on the road to face off against Eduprize at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
