Baseball Recap: Eastside's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Eastside had to endure a six-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against the Flowery Branch Falcons by a score of 8-5 on Tuesday. The Eagles have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Falcons, too.

Levi Pickett tossed a big game, striking out six batters over 6.2 innings while giving up five earned runs off five hits. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Peyton Shaw was excellent, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February. Jayden Bloodworth was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Eastside's win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-6 and their overall record up to 5-14. As for Flowery Branch, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 10-7.

Eastside will have a chance to go back-to-back against Flowery Branch: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
