Soccer Game Preview: Effingham vs. Charleston

The Effingham Hearts will square off against the Charleston Trojans at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Effingham will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

While Effingham's victory against Mt. Zion wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Hearts narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Braves 2-1.

Maicol Sefton and Gage Kinder scored both of Effingham's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 53 goals.

Meanwhile, Charleston kept a clean sheet against Taylorville on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Tornadoes with a sharp 9-0 victory. Charleston haven't had any issues with Taylorville recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Effingham's victory bumped their record up to 17-1-3. As for Charleston, the win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 6-12.

Effingham took their victory against Charleston in their previous meeting back in September by a conclusive 7-0 score. Do the Hearts have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Trojans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
