Basketball Recap: Scottsburg Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Scottsburg can now relate to. They lost 69-48 to the Silver Creek Dragons on Friday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Dragons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 63-42 back in December of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Scottsburg lost, don't look at Ellie Richardson. Despite the final result, she went 9-for-19 on her way to 23 points and six boards. That was a full 47.9% of Scottsburg's points, marking the sixth time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. Lola Fouts was another key player, putting up ten points in addition to six rebounds and five assists.

This is the second loss in a row for Scottsburg and nudges their season record down to 10-14. As for Silver Creek, the win (which was their 16th in a row) raised their record to 23-2.

Scottsburg does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Silver Creek, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 52-38 defeat against Corydon Central on the 8th.
