Basketball Recap: Buhach Colony Falls Despite Big Games from Elijah Garza and Carter Chapman

Buhach Colony lost against Golden Valley back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Buhach Colony Thunder lost 80-58 to the Golden Valley Cougars. While losing is never fun, the Thunder can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 711th, while the Cougars are ranked 277th).

Despite the defeat, Buhach Colony had strong showings from Carter Chapman, who went 9 of 20 on his way to 20 points in addition to seven rebounds and five assists, and Elijah Garza, who went 7 for 13 en route to 18 points and five assists. The dominant performance gave Chapman a new career-high in assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Hector Alcantar, who posted 12 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Buhach Colony and nudges their season record down to 9-9. As for Golden Valley, they pushed their record up to 14-5 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home.

Buhach Colony has already played their next matchup, a 72-36 loss against El Capitan on the 17th. As for Golden Valley, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 55-44 win against Atwater on the 17th.
