Baseball Game Preview: Rye Thunderbolts vs. Lamar Thunder

Rye is 0-6 against Lamar since April of 2017 but things could change on Monday. The Thunderbolts will head out on the road to square off against the Thunder at 4:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Rye might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 8-2 to Crowley County, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Thunderbolts have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Jackson Bjorum was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Pierce Burris, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Manitou Springs hit Lamar with a ten-run fourth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Thunder came up short against the Mustangs, falling 13-3. The loss continues a trend for the Thunder in their meetings with the Mustangs: they've now lost four in a row.

Alex Santos made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

Lamar's defeat dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Rye, their loss dropped their record down to 3-11.

Rye suffered a grim 18-0 defeat to Lamar in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Thunderbolts avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
