Football Game Preview: California School for the Deaf-Riverside Cubs vs. Faith Baptist Contenders + Official Tickets

After each having a week off, the California School for the Deaf-Riverside Cubs and the Faith Baptist Contenders will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:00 p.m. on the 14th. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

California School for the Deaf-Riverside is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing California Lutheran: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Cubs blew the C-Hawks out of the water with an 88-32 final score. The Cubs have beaten the C-Hawks the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the C-Hawks has come to flipping the script.

The match pitted two dominant wideouts against one another in Morgan Hawkins and Tyler Treder. Hawkins had a great game on Thursday and gained 110 total yards and four touchdowns. Meanwhile, Treder was balling out in the loss, picking up 114 receiving yards and three touchdowns.

California School for the Deaf-Riverside didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Lucas Gough and Jasper Martinez. Gough has been hot, having also posted five or more total tackles the last six times he's played. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Faith Baptist humbled Santa Clarita Christian with a 48-7 victory. Given the Contenders' advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked third, while the Cardinals are ranked 32nd) , the win on Saturday wasn't entirely unexpected.

California School for the Deaf-Riverside's record now sits at 8-1. As for Faith Baptist, their record is now 7-1.

California School for the Deaf-Riverside was able to grind out a solid win over Faith Baptist in their previous matchup back in November of 2023, winning 54-42. Do the Cubs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Contenders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
