McClatchy had to kick off their season on the road on Thursday, but they showed no ill effects. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Christian Brothers Falcons, sneaking past 4-3. The victory continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Falcons: they've now won five in a row.

Ari Silva made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single hit and allowed only one earned run over four innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only zero hits, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one double.

Silva wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Gabe Coronado, who scored a run while going 1-for-1. Elias Ortega was another, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

McClatchy wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, an 8-7 win against Yuba City on the 21st. As for Christian Brothers, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 3-2 victory against Bear Creek on the 22nd.
