Baseball Game Preview: Beaver Local Beavers vs. Oak Glen Golden Bears

Beaver Local is 0-5 against Oak Glen since April of 2016 but things could change on Tuesday. The Beavers will square off against the Golden Bears at 5:00 p.m.

Monday just wasn't the day for Beaver Local's offense. They lost 8-0 to Harrison Central on Monday. The loss leaves the Beavers still looking for their first win of the season.

Beaver Local saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Paxton Grimes, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Oak Glen earned an 11-6 victory over Cameron on Monday.

Josh Maher made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits. Maher was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season.

In other batting news, Lucas Zoellers was incredible, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Colt Hissam was another key player, scoring four runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Oak Glen kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cameron only managed six hits.

Oak Glen is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Beaver Local, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.

Beaver Local suffered a grim 15-5 defeat to Oak Glen when the teams last played back in April of 2023. Can the Beavers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
