Baseball Game Preview: Community School of Naples Seahawks vs. Gateway Charter Griffins

The Community School of Naples Seahawks will face off against the Gateway Charter Griffins at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Community School of Naples' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Gateway Charter's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Community School of Naples fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against IMG Academy Royal on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Ascenders by a score of 9-7.

Emmett Perez and Thomas Holland did some serious damage despite the final result: Perez went 2-for-5 with one home run and two RBI, while Holland went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. That home run marked the first that Perez launched this season. Brendan Walsh was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-5.

Meanwhile, Gateway Charter might've scored the first runs on Wednesday, but it was Oasis who claimed the real prize. The Griffins came up short against the Sharks, falling 10-3. The Griffins have struggled against the Sharks recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Gateway Charter saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brandon Lackwood, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Lackwood has become a key player for the Griffins: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-16 otherwise. Another was Christopher Marrero, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Community School of Naples' loss dropped their record down to 14-10. As for Gateway Charter, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-17.
