Baseball Recap: Durham Academy Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Durham Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Kerr-Vance Academy Spartans on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Cavaliers in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now won four in a row.

Maxwell Niedel spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Benjamin Kuo was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two doubles. He is becoming a predictor of Durham Academy's success: when he posts at least three RBI the team is undefeated (and 3-13 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Austin Gunsch, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
