Baseball Game Preview: Springwood Wildcats vs. Southern Christian Patriots

The Springwood Wildcats will hit the road for the first time this season to challenge the Southern Christian Patriots at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Springwood comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

Springwood managed to slip by Southern Christian the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. Springwood lost 17-8 to Southern Christian on Tuesday. One positive for the Wildcats, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

For Southern Christian's part, Jedd Scott was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, Scott gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in March of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in three of his six plate appearances. He has become a key player for Southern Christian: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-3 otherwise.

In other batting news, Jagger Scott and Toby Miller did most of the damage at the plate: Jagger scored three runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-4, while Miller scored two runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-5. That's the most stolen bases Scott has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Trey Chamberlin, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Southern Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Southern Christian has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season. Springwood's loss dropped their record down to 0-5.
