Baseball Recap: South River Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact South River can now relate to. They lost 12-6 to the Governor Livingston Highlanders on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Rams have suffered since April 9, 2024.

Julius Rosado was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of South River's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 12-3 (and 4-6 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Travis Maloney, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.

South River has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 16-9 record this season. As for Governor Livingston, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 23-0.

South River does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Governor Livingston, they will take on Raritan on Tuesday. The Rockets will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something the Highlanders surely won't give up without a fight.
