Basketball Game Preview: Centaurus Warriors vs. Mead Mavericks

Centaurus hasn't had much luck against Mead recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Centaurus Warriors will welcome the Mead Mavericks at 7:30 p.m.

Last Friday, Centaurus came up short against Horizon and fell 67-54. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 138th, while the Hawks are ranked 13th).

Despite their defeat, Centaurus saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Jesse Efe, who posted 12 points, was perhaps the best of all. Those 12 points gave Efe a new career-high. Jt Falzone was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Meanwhile, Mead was able to grind out a solid victory over Skyline on Friday, taking the game 66-56.

Mead is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 12-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.4 points over those games. As for Centaurus, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-11.

Centaurus came up short against Mead in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 55-49. Thankfully for Centaurus, Dominic Mclawrence (who went 8 for 9 to rack up 17 points in addition to eight boards and four steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
