Softball Recap: Declo's Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak at Home

Declo dropped their record down to 8-10 on Saturday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins at home. They came up short against the Malad Dragons, falling 11-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Dragons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-3 on April 2nd.

Declo saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Makendrie Harris, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

As for Malad, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-2 record this season. Considering they have won 16 games by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

On Malad's side, Riglee Peterson made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and not a single walk). Peterson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Logan Maroney was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Hadlee Summers, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Looking ahead, Declo will head out on the road to face off against Soda Springs at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Hornets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cardinals have averaged an impressive 10.2 runs per game this season. As for Malad, they will host Bonneville at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Dragons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bees have averaged an impressive 8.2 runs per game this season.
