Baseball Game Preview: West Covina Bulldogs vs. Peninsula Panthers

The West Covina Bulldogs will challenge the Peninsula Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

West Covina is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Newport Harbor just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sailors.

West Covina saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Griffey Moncada, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.

Century typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Peninsula proved too difficult a challenge. They won by a run and slipped past the Centurions 3-2. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Panthers as it put an end to their six-game losing streak.

TL Mills looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Peninsula is 2-1 when Mills allows one or fewer hits, but 5-9 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Brenden Jarrard, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February. Edrian Chao also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

West Covina's loss dropped their record down to 10-8. As for Peninsula, their win bumped their record up to 7-10.
