Baseball Recap: Sasakwa Has No Trouble Against Savanna

Sasakwa had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Savanna Bulldogs with a sharp 23-3 win. The matchup marked the Vikings' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Joshua Jones made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Jones was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. He also put up a hit, which was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Sasakwa got a massive performance out of Titan Collins, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with four stolen bases, five RBI, and two runs. The dominant performance gave Collins a new career-high in hits. Another player making a difference was Darius Henderson, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.

Sasakwa always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .674. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Sasakwa's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Savanna, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sasakwa will head out to square off against Soper at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Savanna, they are taking a road trip to face off against Coleman at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Savanna has given up an average of 7.5 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
