Softball Recap: Highland Baptist Christian Starts off Right with Win over Westgate

Highland Baptist Christian had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. They were the clear victor by a 22-8 margin over the Westgate Tigers. The win continues a trend for the Bears in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won three in a row.

Faith Cormier and Camillia Romero did most of the damage at the plate: Cormier scored four runs and stole six bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances, while Romero got on base in three of her six plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Addisen Yates, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-5.

Highland Baptist Christian hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That's the most strikeouts they've posted since back in March of 2024.

Westgate's defeat was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-2.
