Baseball Game Preview: Arlington Catholic Cougars vs. St. Mary's Spartans

Arlington Catholic hasn't had much luck against St. Mary recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Cougars will face off against the Spartans at 4:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Arlington Catholic 3.8, St. Mary's 2.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.

It was a proper cat-fight when Arlington Catholic duked it out with Cardinal Spellman on Thursday. The Cougars blew past the Cardinals 13-1. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by ten runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, St. Mary's faced Bishop Stang in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. St. Mary's skirted past Bishop Stang 3-1. Winning may never get old, but St. Mary's sure is getting used to it with their fifth in a row.

Arlington Catholic has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for St. Mary's, they pushed their record up to 12-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Arlington Catholic came up short against St. Mary's when the teams last played back in April, falling 5-2. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
