Basketball Game Preview: East Panthers vs. Riverside Frontiers

East has gone 6-0 against Riverside recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The East Panthers will venture away from home to challenge the Riverside Frontiers at 6:00 p.m. East knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matches -- so hopefully Riverside likes a good challenge.

It was a classic East v. West duel when East took on Western New York Maritime Charter on Friday. East secured a 57-51 W over Western New York Maritime Charter.

East got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Antoine Williams out in front who posted 28 points along with seven boards and three steals. Williams has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Dallas Hernandez, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 boards.

Meanwhile, Riverside was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They had to suffer through a 85-51 loss at the hands of Lewiston-Porter. While losing is never fun, the Frontiers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 538th, while the Lancers are ranked 163rd).

Riverside's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for East, their win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-6.

East was able to grind out a solid victory over Riverside in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, winning 67-56. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Riverside's Landon Jaeckle, who put up 15 points in addition to seven boards and six assists.
