Volleyball Recap: Belleville West Takes a Loss

Belleville West lost against Edwardsville back in April, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Maroons took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers.

The loss didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Edwardsville scored at least 20 points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 25-20.

Aidan Idrees paced Belleville West's offense, picking up seven kills. Idrees got some help from Tyler Lintz and his 11 assists.

Belleville West's defeat dropped their record down to 12-16. As for Edwardsville, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-11 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Belleville West will take on Granite City at 5:45 p.m. on Monday. The last four games the Warriors have played have been within one set, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Edwardsville, they will be playing at home against Belleville East at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Tigers have won six straight at home, while the Lancers won six straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
