Baseball Recap: South Decatur Comes Up Short

South Decatur lost against Greensburg back in May of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Cougars lost 16-1 to the Pirates. The Cougars just can't catch a break and have now endured four losses in a row dating back to last season.

Corey Nugent was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.

South Decatur's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Greensburg, the win keeps they at an undefeated 4-0.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South Decatur will host Edinburgh at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Lancers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16 runs per game on average), something the Cougars will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Greensburg, they will square off against Rushville at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
