Softball Recap: Brighton Extends Winning Streak to Three

Brighton had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They never let the Craigmont Chiefs get on the board and left with a 15-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Cardinals, who have now won 11 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Brooklynn Harris made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Brighton let Braelynn Scott and Kaitlyn Chapman run wild. Scott went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and two runs, while Chapman went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and two RBI. Those three RBI gave Scott a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Keagan Stepp, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one run.

Brighton's victory bumped their record up to 20-7. As for Craigmont, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Brighton will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Chiefs: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled on Wednesday.
