Softball Recap: Kingston Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Kingston dropped their record down to 1-2 on Monday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins on the road dating back to last season. They lost 10-4 to the Reese Rockets. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rockets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-6 on Monday.

Kingston saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Piper St. George, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four stolen bases and one run. St. George is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Another was Brianna Rayl, who earned one run and three stolen bases.

As for Reese, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games.

On Reese's side, Kylie Soper was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Those 12 strikeouts gave Soper a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs.

In other batting news, Reese let Jaidyn VanOchten and Ashtyn Frost run wild. VanOchten got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Frost went 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most hits Frost has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Hall, who went 1-for-5 with two RBI and one double.

Coincidentally, Kingston and Reese will both be playing Caro the next time they take the field. The Cardinals will head out to face the Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Rockets will host them at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
