Baseball Recap: Yreka Comes Up Short

Yreka had lost eight straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 4-17-1 to make it nine. They lost 11-1 to the Lassen Grizzlies. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Miners of the 7-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2025.

Yreka saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Laydon Luce, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

As for Lassen, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-12. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games.

On Lassen's side, Gaven Mueller spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits. The Grizzlies are 4-2 when Mueller allows one or fewer earned runs, but 7-10 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Lassen got a big performance out of Landon Kirack, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Trajen Bauer, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

While Yreka had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
