AAAAAA Region 3 recap October 1, 2013
Hughes added to the longest winning streak in AAAAAA Region 3 this week by beating Newton, 44-7. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
East Coweta and Central played the closest game in the league this week, with East Coweta eventually emerging with a 41-40 victory.
Jared Askew provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Douglas County lost to Harris County. He completed 15 passes for 298 yards and also ran for 28 yards. Askew's key target this week was Malik Olvier, who caught 5 passes for 107 yards.
Kinan Humphrey and Keion Davis gave Hughes a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Humphrey threw for 160 yards, while Davis ran for 95 yards. Emile Sexton also contributed to the rushing game with 58 yards on the ground.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, the Tigers' Askew and Justin Bridges have proven to be a lethal combination. Askew has thrown for 989 yards this season, while Bridges has 20 catches for 332 yards. Willie Cannon's team's Davis leads the league in rushing yards with 721.
The Panthers took down the Rams 44-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. Humphrey ran for 11 yards during the win.
