Baseball Game Preview: Everett Seagulls vs. Monroe Bearcats

For the second straight game, Everett will face off against Monroe. The Seagulls will challenge the Bearcats at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Everett is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.

On Monday, Everett didn't have quite enough to beat Monroe and fell 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Seagulls have suffered against the Bearcats since April 15, 2022.

Owen Brunni put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 5.1 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Brunni wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Parker Strago, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Monroe is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Everett, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-12.
