Volleyball Recap: Central Catholic Starts off Right with Win over Masconomet Regional

Central Catholic had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. Everything went their way against the Masconomet Regional Chieftains as they made off with a 3-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Raiders in their matchups with the Chieftains: they've now won three in a row.

The match came down to the wire multiple times:two sets needed extra rallies to declare a winner. The match finished with set scores of 26-24, 25-18, 26-24.

Julie Hall paced Central Catholic's offense, picking up 19 kills. Hall got some help from Madison Blanchet and her 29 assists. Sydney Faria controlled things from the service line, finishing with seven aces.

Masconomet Regional's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cate Wettstone, who had five aces and three digs. Jordan Draper was another key player, getting 13 assists and four digs.

Central Catholic wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 3-0 victory against Pentucket Regional on the 4th. As for Masconomet Regional, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 defeat against Marblehead on the 3rd.
