Baseball Game Preview: James River Midlothian Rapids vs. Cosby Titans

The James River Midlothian Rapids will face off against the Cosby Titans at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

James River Midlothian's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They blew past Huguenot 15-0. The win continues a trend for the Rapids in their matchups with the Falcons: they've now won seven in a row.

Zack Nicholas and Brian Consuegra made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Nicholas struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Meanwhile, Consuegra struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Those six strikeouts gave Nicholas a new career-high. At the plate, Nicholas got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Consuegra went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That double was Consuegra's first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Wil Camera, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Robert Walker, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

James River Midlothian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Huguenot only managed one hit.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Cosby, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Monacan on Thursday as they made off with a 9-0 victory.

James River Midlothian's win bumped their record up to 9-3. As for Cosby, their victory bumped their record up to 8-4-1.
