Football Recap: Gabryl Alaniz Leads Seminole's Defense on Friday + How To Watch

The matchup between Seminole and Shallowater on Friday hardly resembled the 14-10 effort from their previous meeting. The Indians enjoyed a cozy 45-27 win over the Mustangs. The victory continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now won three in a row.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Seminole's defense and their eight sacks. Gabryl Alaniz led the group effort, picking up three of those sacks all by himself. Austin Olivas got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

When it comes to explaining why Shallowater lost, don't look at Cooper Martin. Despite the final result, he threw for 309 yards and three TDs while completing 73.3% of his passes, and also rushed for 42 yards. 127 of Martin's passing yards were hauled in by Maddox McDonald, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

The win got Seminole back to even at 1-1. As for Shallowater, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 1-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Seminole will host Sweetwater at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Shallowater, they will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Clyde at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
