Football Recap: Shelley Comes Up Short

Shelley had lost four straight at home dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 0-4 to make it five. They lost 34-10 to the Century Diamondbacks. Despite 138 more yards than the Diamondbacks, the Russets couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.

Despite the loss, Shelley still got an impressive performance from Conley Bennett, who rushed for 69 yards and one TD.

As for Century, the win keeps them at an undefeated 5-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 35.0 points this season.

Tito Villano produced another solid performance rushing for 136 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 7.6 yards per carry. He was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 55 yards.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Shelley will take on Hillcrest at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The contest will give the Russets their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Century, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Teton at 7:00 p.m. on October 3.
