Baseball Recap: Estero Makes It Five in a Row at Home

Estero had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt Gateway Charter on Tuesday. Estero blew past Gateway Charter 10-2. Considering the Wildcats' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Rylan Greenleaf was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Rylan Stewart, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

Estero was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gateway Charter only posted a batting average of .167.

Estero's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.4 runs over those games. As for Gateway Charter, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-12.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Estero will challenge Fort Myers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Estero 4, Fort Myers 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Gateway Charter, they will face off against Lehigh at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Lehigh has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.4 runs per game on average), something Gateway Charter will no doubt try to take advantage of.
