Basketball Recap: Lone Star Piles Up the Points Against Turner

Lone Star entered their tilt with Turner on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They breezed by the Turner Lions to the tune of 79-51. Given the Rangers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 132nd, while the Lions are ranked 857th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Several Lions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Sahil Anand, who went 7 of 11 en route to 20 points and five boards. What's more, Anand also racked up two blocks, the most he's had since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Leo Portillo, who posted 15 points.

Lone Star has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-11 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.2 points per game. As for Turner, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-13.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lone Star will face off against Wakeland at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Turner, they will square off against Reedy at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
