Recap: Emerald Ridge Jaguars vs. Graham-Kapowsin Eagles
On Saturday, The Emerald Ridge Jaguars faced the Graham-Kapowsin Eagles in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Emerald Ridge fell to Graham-Kapowsin 41-35. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Emerald Ridge in their matchups with Graham-Kapowsin: they've now lost eight in a row.
Despite the loss, Emerald Ridge still got an impressive performance from Jake Schakel, who threw for 335 yards and four touchdowns. Navarre Dixon was another key contributor, rushing for 113 yards and a touchdown.
Daveon Superales continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Graham-Kapowsin, rushing for 145 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.6 yards per carry, and also throwing for 244 yards and four touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes. Superales was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 62 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jabez Woods, who picked up 169 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Emerald Ridge's defeat dropped their record down to 6-2. As for Graham-Kapowsin, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 8-0.
Emerald Ridge will head out on the road to face off against Rogers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Rogers comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Graham-Kapowsin, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Bethel at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bethel will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Washington Rankings (they are ranked 50th, while Graham-Kapowsin is ranked first).
