Basketball Recap: Deer Park Piles Up the Points Against Clear Lake

Deer Park's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They claimed a resounding 64-32 win over the Clear Lake Falcons. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 38-15.

Deer Park found their leader in sophomore Alyssa Harms, who went 6 for 8 en route to 15 points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Emily Ripley, who posted 12 points and five boards.

Deer Park was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Clear Lake's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Carmen Evans, who had 14 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals, and Tory Burrell, who put up five points. Evans is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played.

The victory got Deer Park back to even at 15-15. As for Clear Lake, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 15-18 record this season.

Deer Park will be playing in front of their home fans against Brazoswood at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Deer Park is facing Brazoswood at the right time seeing as Brazoswood is stuck on an eight-game losing streak. Clear Lake has already played their next contest (against Clear Creek), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
