Baseball Recap: Waggener Triumphs

Waggener won the last time they faced Seneca and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Wildcats walked away with a 9-4 win over the Red Hawks.

Logan Janiszewski made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 19 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 6.8 strikeouts per game. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, one run, and one double. Waggener is 2-1 when Janiszewski posts two or more stolen bases, but 0-6 otherwise.

In other batting news, Wyatt Greene was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Carsen Ruwe, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs.

Waggener's victory bumped their record up to 2-7. As for Seneca, they dropped their record down to 2-14 with the defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Waggener will host Shawnee at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Seneca, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Western at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
