Softball Recap: Make It Two in a Row for Sparta

Sparta won against Catholic Central on Tuesday with nine runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Spartans never let the Comstock Park Panthers get on the board and left with a 9-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won 12 matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Comstock Park's batters probably weren't too happy with Taliya Dauser, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 19 Ks (she gave up a single walk). Dauser has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Lily Dauser, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alexa VanVliet, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

The victory made it two in a row for Sparta and bumps their season record up to 19-11. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 1 runs in those games. As for Comstock Park, their loss dropped their record down to 2-13.

As of now, neither Sparta nor the Panthers have any future games scheduled.
