Basketball Recap: Lawrence Upper Lions vs. Westside Christian Academy Eagles
Lawrence Upper was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 19th straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 40-18 to the Westside Christian Academy Eagles. The Lions were down 38-14 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Despite the defeat, Lawrence Upper saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Nohla Marbley posted 11 points.
Ella Formica was a one-woman wrecking crew for Westside Christian Academy as she went 7-for-17 en route to 15 points in addition to seven rebounds and seven steals. Formica has become a key player for Westside Christian Academy: the team is undefeated when she posts at least 15 points, but 1-8 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Lacorte, who scored eight points and four steals.
Lawrence Upper's loss dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Westside Christian Academy, their win ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-8.
