Volleyball Recap: Lowell Takes a Loss

Lowell lost against Kankakee Valley on September 2nd and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Red Devils fell just short of the Kougars by a score of 3-2.

Lowell wouldn't go down easily and took Kankakee Valley into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking two-point loss. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-19, 25-27, 22-25, 16-14.

Emily Aguilar paced Lowell's offense, picking up 13 kills. Aguilar got some help from Dafne Aguilar-Martinez and her 28 assists. Aguilar was also solid from the service line: she led the team with seven aces.

Kankakee Valley can attribute much of their success to Izzy Jonkman, who had 31 assists and five digs. Those 31 assists gave Jonkman a new career-high.

Lowell now has a losing record of 9-10. As for Kankakee Valley, they pushed their record up to 14-9 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Lowell wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 3-1 defeat against Andrean on the 2nd. As for Kankakee Valley, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 loss against Hanover Central on the 2nd.
